PoopReport.com Announces Ask Poonurse Bathroom Health Advice Column
Poop isnt always a laughing matter. A constant flow of serious health-related questions sparks the webs home for the intellectual appreciation of bathroom humor to address the issues that millions of Americans are too embarrassed to ask their doctor about.
March 29, 2004--Excretion. Bowel movement. Poop. No matter what you call it, its one of humanitys most pressing concerns and its also one of societys least addressed areas of health. For millions of Americans, the problems go much deeper than the occasional bad burrito. From chronic constipation to bloody stool to Irritable Bowel Syndrome, the myriad of troubles our bowels create cause serious stress and have endless repercussions. And what makes the problems even worse: theyre really embarrassing to talk about.
Thank goodness for Poonurse.
With a frank, honest and witty manner, Poonurse is the new advice columnist on PoopReport.com, the webs home for the intellectual appreciation of bathroom humor. A Detroit-area labor and delivery specialist in the real world, Poonurse takes to the web to help people with their most private problems.
I started PoopReport.com as a place to laugh at bathroom humor in a mature, intelligent way, says Dave Praeger, the sites founder. But it soon became clear that the problems of the posterior are far more widespread than I ever imagined. With the American diet and lifestyle being what it is, its only natural that our bad habits catch up with us in the end.
And all too often, these issues are exasperated by the fact that people are too embarrassed to get them checked out. From hemorrhoids to bizarrely colored feces, people seem to ignore the problems, desperately hoping theyll go away waiting way too long to see a doctor.
Every problem is different, says Poonurse. While I answer questions to the best of my ability, what Im really trying to do is get people to stop being ashamed and get themselves to the doctor. If their problems concern them so much that they write in to a bathroom humor website, then theyre not taking their health seriously enough. Im the LAST person they should be asking.
This is especially true with blood in the stool. People write to me complaining of days or weeks with bloody stool. They should have called their doctor ages ago! It might be nothing, but it may be something you shouldnt let your shame come before your health. This is what your doctor is there for.
Poonurse brings a biting, cavalier wit to her contributions on PoopReport. Her sarcastic, unapologetic approach may surprise some people but for the millions of Americans wondering about the health of their nether-regions, Poonurse may just have the answer. And if not, hopefully shell get them to ask their doctor, which is what they should have done in the first place.
