According to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association (APPMA) 2001-2002 National Pet Owners Survey, there are roughly 68 million dogs within the United States, many of which will be afflicted with some sort degenerative hip problem such as hip dysplasia, arthritis, etc. The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals indicates that hip dysplasia alone can affect as many as 50% to 75% of the dogs within certain breeds such as Bulldogs and Pugs.
